Gyeran-jjim
Gyeran-jjim (계란찜), Dalgyal-jjim (달걀찜) or steamed eggs is a type of jjim, Korean steamed dish. It is a custardy, casserole-like banchan (side dish), often seasoned with saeu-jeot (salted shrimp) or myeongnan-jeot (salted pollock roe) and topped with scallions and toasted sesame seeds. The ideal gyeran-jjim is light and fluffy.
Gyeran Jjim are Korean style steamed eggs that are steamed directly in a clay bowl. The texture of this steamed egg is very soft, so it is often used as a "breastfeeding substitute" for babies.
However, this healthy food is of course delicious for both children and adults.
Halal Recipe for Gyeran-jjim
Ingredients For 4 servings Gyeran Jjim
- 6 eggs
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp mushroom sauce
- ¼ tsp ground pepper
- ¼ tsp granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 100 ml of water
- 1 spring onion, finely sliced
How to make Gyeran Jjim
Time needed : 30 minutes
- Beat the eggs, strain.
- Add soy sauce, salt, ground pepper, sugar, sesame oil and water, shake off.
- Add spring onions, stir well.
- Pour into dolsot or round heat-resistant dish.
- Steam in a hot pot for 15 minutes until cooked.
- Lift and serve.
