Kwetiau is written in various ways such as kuetiau, kwetiau, and kwayteow. But in the original language it is called pinyin: guo tiau, read: kuo thiau. Kwetiau is a type of noodle made from rice flour or wheat flour with a wider texture.
Initially, Kwetiau was sold by farmers and fishermen who also doubled as food sellers at night. Initially, the food buyers were also workers or laborers around there. According to them, char kway teow as a delicious and filling food.
Kwetiau is generally synonymous with Hokkien ethnic Chinese and Tio Ciu.
Halal Recipe for Kwetiau or kwayteow
Ingredients :
- 1 pack of wet kwetiau
- 2 chicken eggs, scrambled
- 5 heads of pak choy, cut
- 100 grams of bean sprouts
- 150 grams of chicken meat, diced
- 3 tbsp sweet soy sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 3 tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 tbsp fish sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 5 cloves of garlic, crushed and finely chopped cooking oil for sauteing
How to make Kwetiau or kwayteow :
1. Saute garlic until fragrant on low heat.
2. Enter the chicken meat and stir-fry until it changes color.
3. Add the scrambled eggs and mix well.
4. Add all the spices one by one and mix well.
5. Enter the vegetables, cook until slightly wilted then add the kwetiau.
6. Stir until all the spices are evenly distributed.
7. Correct the taste and add less seasoning.
